In this video, Pastor Robert Furrow of Calvary Tucson discusses the lessons on forgiveness that can be learned from Jesus washing Peter's feet. He explains that Jesus washed the feet of his disciples as an act of service and humility, redirecting their desire for greatness towards becoming servants. However, when Jesus gets to Peter, he initially refuses to have his feet washed. This highlights Peter's tendency to resist the Lord's will, even after the resurrection. Overall, the video emphasizes the importance of humility and service in forgiveness.

04:30 One of the iconic pictures that we find in the Bible is found in John Chapter 13. It's Jesus washing the Disciples feet. It's such a contrast, the King of kings and the Lord of Lords serving in such away. But why did Jesus washed the disciple's feet? And more specifically, what can we learn from Jesus washing Peter's feet today on hot topics?
05:20 Hi, this is Robert Furrow. Welcome the hot topics. We're glad that you found us. If you're new here, consider subscribing and ringing the bell that you could get all of our new videos. The comments section is open below. We would love to hear from you. On the night that Jesus was arrested, he gathered all of his disciples together in an upper room and he gave what is called the upper room discourse. Not only did they enjoy the meal together and were given what we call Communion today at that Passover meal, but Jesus also told them about him leaving. Who would betray him? Who was going to deny him after the meal, Before he had this discourse with him, he got up, he took off his outer robe and he put a towel around his waist and he began to wash the disciple's feet. There are few things that I think that we need to understand as we take a look at Jesus doing that. Number one is that the disciples had been arguing for a while about who was going to be the greatest in Luke 9 46. They talked along the road about who was going to be the greatest. And when they got to their destination, Jesus said to them, he who is least in the kingdom of God, will be the greatest in Mark 20 to 24. He knew what they were talking about. And so he put a child in front of them and said, If you want to be great in the Kingdom of God, you have to become like this child in Mark 9 34 he asked them, What were you talking about along the road? And they didn't want to tell them because they were arguing over who was going to be the greatest. They knew that they were in this thing on the bottom floor, and they thought they were going to be great. And I love that Jesus never rebuked them for their desire to be great. The Bible tells us in Philippians 23 to do nothing out of selfish ambition. But what Jesus did was redirect them. You wanna be great, then learn to be a servant. You wanna be great. Then wash people's feet. You want to become great, then become least in the kingdom of God. This is the inversion principle. Take the last place and you will get the first place. Humble yourself and God will lift you up. So Jesus goes around the room and he's washing the feet of the disciples and everything goes okay until he gets to Peter. And of course, it's Peter because Peter is not afraid to tell the Lord no. Even after the resurrection and a vision, he sees a sheet come down with all kinds of unclean food on it. God tells him to rise, killing, eating. Peter says, No, I won't do it. And he did that three times. And so here it says in verse six of John, Chapter 13. Then he came to Simon Peter, and Peter said to him, Lord, are you washing my feet?
