02:08 Hi this is robert furrow if you're new here consider subscribing liking sharing and ringing the bell the comment section is open below we would love to hear from you
02:38 the first is in first john 2 verses 15 through 17 where we are told do not love the world or the things that are in the world for all that is in the world the lust of the flesh the lust of the eyes and the pride of life is passing away but we are eternal and we will forever be in the kingdom of god
03:20 the lust of the flesh that's our desires that's our ungodly desires we can have desires to do what god wants us to do and to do the things the lord wants us to do or we can follow the desires of our flesh which aren't always ungodly but at times they are galatians talks about this in galatians chapter 5 where it says that if we walk in the spirit we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh so in order to not fulfill those lusts we walk in the spirit and that's how we battle it but it goes on to say that there's a battle going on inside of us the spirit fighting against the flesh and the flesh fighting against the spirit and listen to this list in galatians 5 verses 16 through 21 on the deeds of the flesh it says now the works of the flesh are evident which are you ready adultery fornication uncleanliness lewdness idolatry sorcery hatred contentions jealousy outbursts of wrath selfish ambition dissensions heresies envy murder drunkenness revelries and the like so there's more than just that which i tell you beforehand just as i told you in the past those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of heaven now notice the key there is those that practice as a christian you practice righteousness you practice loving god and loving people around you you may sin and be forgiven for that but you don't practice these things because if we love jesus we want to keep his commandments and so we are not in the world and this is the lust of the flesh that's in the world the second thing that john 2 tells us is the lust of the eyes the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes this is wanting to surround ourselves with beautiful things looking around us wanting money so we can buy different kind of things from the world if you're part of the word of faith movement then you're taught that you are supposed to be rich that god wants you rich but that's not what the bible teaches the bible says in first timothy chapter 6 that if anyone teaches godliness as a means of financial gain withdraw yourself from that person for godliness with contentment is great gain and we are not to be living for the things that we can get or the things that we can have and it's not that being rich is wrong it's wanting to be rich right the bible says the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil and that those who are rich are instructed not to trust in the uncertainty of riches and being willing to share and so we want to make sure that we don't get caught.
